I @ Do You?
March 7, 2008 by Kate Olson
I couldn’t resist writing this and please note that I balanced my posts well today - only 1 out of 2 mentioned Twitter
And speaking of that, take a minute and read Kelly Christopherson’s excellent post “Go to the source“ where he worries “that the gap between the “users” and “non-users” will widen because teachers who are full-time classroom teachers don’t have the time to work with these resources. Even tech-savvy educators find it difficult to keep up with the conversations and the tool-sharing because they don’t have time to take in all that is happening or become part of the constant conversation that takes place.”
But since it’s the weekend, we can enjoy some lighter stuff as well
@wiredpig (and no, I don’t have any idea where THAT came from!) created and is selling some t-shirts, mugs, buttons, and bumper stickers just for twitter fans on CafePress - check them out, they’re great
When I asked my esteemed twitter colleagues whether I need to buy one of these, the consensus was that need is relative and buying and wearing one (at home, where no twitter friends would even see it) would surely solidify my geek status. Perfect - just what I’m looking for…………..

Thanks for the shout out. Send me a pic of the shirt when you get it.
@Twitter Love,
Glenn
Thanks for the link and the discussion. As I said earlier, I think you do a great job with the whole technology piece. As a school administrator, I am concerned about what is happening in the area of technology integration and use. Btw, go for the t-shirt. Some things are just meant for some people!
I agree, unless teachers are really into techno stuff themselves, where is the time to check it all out?
So glad to hear you say this! I follow mostly edtech specialists (or is that the only ones blogging, tweeting and the likes?). I have decided that I can’t keep up with it all. Though I know everyone’s job is hectic, let’s face it: I am trying to use project based learning in all 3 of the subject classes I teach (this is not easy), trying to learn new apps, and keeping up with blogging as my pd as that was my one professional goal that I stated this year. Add to my family of teens and the fact I also have a business and I am swamped.
I love the concept of twitter but am having trouble finding time to build and cultivate the network. How can you do that if it is blocked at school and your time is so limited out of school? My time is spent with teaching differently and using the best technologies to enhance it. I know twitter could help me with it but has not been useful per time spent.
I would go for the shirt! I am a geek and would wear it proudly as well.
