I am not yet a teacher, but I'm slowly getting a masters in education and will likely be teaching soon. I am traditional (teacher-centered), young (22), a twitter user, and eager to incorporate technology in the classroom. I'm not sure what that data says about your concern, but an interesting mix no? Just figured I'd weigh in to represent the minority in question.

I was just talking about this the other day...not with twitter, but with tech in the classroom in general. The "younger" teachers 21-30...are no more likely to use technology in there classroom than the teachers who are 40-50 years olds. I think the feeling was that younger teachers who have been "using" technologies in the personal life would transfer their use into the classroom. I have found many of the "new" teachers to be some of the most traditional teachers I know.

Hmmm interesting Kate. I have read that the average age of Australian teachers is 47 (maybe that is why age group of most of your readers/twitterers is older, because most people in ed are older) ... are young people interested in teaching as a career? Maybe young people entering uni realise they can earn more with Business and IT degrees etc. Do you think young people are attracted to teaching these days?
